Garage sale signs and Flyers are key to your success

Without proper advertising with garage sale signs, people won't come. If people don't come, you won't sell much of anything. And if you don't sell much of anything, you will have defeated the purpose of holding the garage sale in the first place. But if you use garage sale signs properly to bring people directly to your sale, they will be more than happy to part with their money for a variety of worldly goods you won't miss.

When you make the garage sale signs that you will post on the street the day of your garage sale be sure to make them large enough that they can be easily read by passing cars.  Use clear large letters on clean paper or cardboard.

I normally use my home printer to print the letters for my garage sale signs.  I put 2 letters per page and use BOLD Courier New font at 250 point size.  With this font each character is the same size.  Also be sure to put arrows on them to direct people exactly where to go.

All you need to put on your garage sale signs is:

Sale Today
#1 Bayview road
9 am – 5 pm

-->   -->   -->

It never hurts to put these up a couple of days early, especially on busy intersections near your home. If you do, simply change ‘today’ to the day of the sale. Oh..and unless you live at #1 bayview road, you probably should change the address too ;-)

The only job of a garage sale sign is to drive traffic to your sale.  Make them big, and make them VERY easy to read.  You also need to be sure you put them in the right places so that you get maximum effect from the signs.  Poorly placed garage sale signs will keep your customers away just as much as not having any signs for your sale at all.
